The Day Will Come

At first, I wasn't too interested in this film, but from the opening minutes it draws you in, grabs you by the heart and makes you rage at the hideously unjust system that existed at the time. The two young leads are excellent, Lars Mikkelsen as the insidious sleazy bastard of the institution is played convincingly, but you also harbour a great deal of hatred for the rest of the educators from the start, except for the female teacher, who is the only one with any compassion. A very harsh and unpleasant spectacle in places. I do not envy the children. A great and powerful affair. 90% (25.04.2017)

If you want a drama with a perfectly bleak atmosphere, go for it. The Danes came with another film about an orphanage, but this story of two brothers was right up my alley, and I really enjoyed it. I got to see Lars Mikkelsen in quite a few series and movies (April 9th the last time) and he always delivers a great performance, but this time he outdid himself and provided a really chilling experience for me. A rough and sometimes unbelievable story. The story is all the more absurd when I see the past Denmark is nowadays answering for and how, on the other hand, people in Scandinavia in general currently treat children. Extremes create only extremes and this movie is a prime example of this. (18.02.2018)

The Danes are masters of this type of poignant drama that make you clench your hands in fury over the adversity and injustice the main characters have to face. Lars Mikkelsen is a horrible creature, the kids are alright. (11.02.2017)
