Biografie

Marco Martins started his career as assistant director to Wim Wenders, Pedro Costa, Manoel de Oliveira and Bertrand Tavernier. His first feature film as a director, Alice (2005), premiered at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes, where it won the Prix Regards Jeunes. His next films were the documentary Traces of a Diary (2009), How to Draw a Perfect Circle (2010), Twenty-One-Twelve: The Day the World Didn’t End (2013), a documentary co-directed with Michelangelo Pistoletto, and São Jorge (2016), winner of the Best Actor Award (Nuno Lopes) in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Festival.
