Biografie
Bilbao, 1939. She studied classical dance in Madrid and debuted in film hand in hand with Luis García Berlanga, who signed her on for Novio a la Vista (1954). Her first starring role was in Jesús Franco’s Tenemos 18 Años (1959), which was followed by a career of over six decades in theater, movies, and television. Some of her best remembered films are Fortunata y Jacinta (1970), Los Santos Inocentes (1984), The Day of the Beast (1995), La Celestina (1996), which won her the Sant Jordi Award, and Witching and Bitching (2013), for which she picked up the Goya Award for best supporting actress.
