Paco Plaza

Plaza’s debut feature film, Second Name, used a script that he co-wrote, based on Ramsey Campbell’s book of the same name. This film signalled the arrival of this young director as one of the emerging talents of the “fantastic” film genre. Soon thereafter followed the horror thriller Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt, Xmas Tale and then [REC].

Co-directed by Paco Plaza and Jaume Balagueró, the film was an international success, celebrated by audiences and industry alike. It was precisely this great reception of the film which led them to write and co-direct [REC]2.

Paco Plaza’s most recent project, [REC]3 Genesis, sees him taking the directorial reigns single-handedly this time around, although Jaume Balagueró is on board as creative producer of the project. The final film of the [REC] saga, [REC]4 Apocalypse, is to be directed by Balagueró, and will be the film that draws the curtain on the franchise.
