Azrael (2024)
A pure genre pleasure. Don't look for a story as such, the answers to questions like "who? what? why?" are obscured. The likeable protagonist (the already proven scream queen Samara Weaving) is simply dealing with some post-apocalyptic cult and humanoid monsters. It's one big, 80-minute horror ride, with some really rich, perfectly crafted genre sequences superimposed on a largely banal running around in the woods. I enjoyed it beyond expectations.
Little Bites (2024)
Another mind-numbingly boring, wannabe horror allegory about how women/mothers have it tough. Honestly, who cares. It might have made a half-hour short, but 105 minutes, no way.
V/H/S/Beyond (2024)
One of the better parts this series of found footage anthologies under the V/H/S label so far. This time around, none of the stories stand out in terms of quality, either up or down. Which is fine, it consistently held my interest at a level of moderate satisfaction. Screenwriting-wise, they don't attempt anything sophisticated, the stories are banal, but to their credit, they all (with one exception) devolve into unhinged bloody chaos pretty soon, as we like it best in this subgenre.
