Capitalism: A Love Story (2009)

Engels Michael Moore is biased, there's no doubt about that. However, on the other hand, he is someone who tries to show us that things are wrong in the world and tries to demonstrate to us exactly what isn't working. Plus, he's funny and he's very caustic about it. For me, his documentaries are just fantastic, and this one also proves it to me. His thoughts are quite consistent with mine.

Buffet froid (1979)

Engels This film somehow nicely captures the atmosphere of the time it was made, which is good. It has a dirtier feel to it, which suits this odd comedy. It's also a pretty good crime drama, but it didn't manage to blow me away. By the way, it wasn't until this film that I realized how long Gérard has been on the scene and it really has been quite a few years.

KillerSaurus (2015) booh!

Engels KillerSaurus doesn't meet even a fraction of the small expectations you might have from a film with a similar title. It's a film that just wants to pretend to be a monster movie, but this is something you could easily replay in your head, maybe even better if you have a bit of imagination. And you won't suffer as much as you would from watching this experiment, which simply cannot be taken seriously.

Brother Bear (2003)

Engels In the end, this is nothing more than just another film from the Disney studio, a pleasant film, with a fairly clear structure, and the only thing that slightly elevates it above average are Phil Collins' songs, which I simply enjoy and whose music I can appreciate. Otherwise, I won't remember Brother Bear.

Blithe Spirit (1945)

Engels From the stage to the movie screen, but under the direction of David Lean, it probably couldn't have gone wrong. I didn't think I would be interested in the film, after all, I was a bit prejudiced about his age, but as it turned out, that was completely unnecessary. This is a very entertaining film even after seventy years, and it kept me entertained with its pleasant atmosphere and wit.

Blind (2014)

Engels An interesting look at what life can look like for a woman who suddenly went blind. It's not a directly harsh view, at least not always, but there are scenes here that will blow you away, including some that are quite civil. For example, the scene in the restaurant was incredible, yet so simple. But awesome. Overall, it’s slightly above average.

Blancanieves (2012)

Engels A slightly different take on Snow White and her story, this time focusing on the form and shifting it to Spain a hundred years ago. Silent films don't get that much attention, but they still look good. Just as interesting is the colorful execution. However, the story itself doesn't offer anything additional, so credit goes to the form and to the midgets, who express a lot through silence.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016)

Engels I didn't laugh as much as I thought I would at this movie. Kendrick and Plaza are fine, but I still can't help but think of their characters as total bitches most of the time. Just like those two were total assholes. At least the environment was occasionally utilized to the advantage of the matter.

Central Intelligence (2016)

Engels I didn't think I would enjoy this movie, but I found myself rooting hard for The Rock and wanting him to not be an asshole. The film actually got to me, even though Kevin Hart with his running mouth will never be my favorite comedian. Several scenes here are really great and I laughed out loud.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016)

Engels Tim Burton has really grown stale to me in recent years. Yes, in this film, there are a few horror moments that made me rejoice, but it's just an echo of Burton's poetics. The characters in this film are completely underused, especially Eva Green, who is basically useless here. The others also have little space and their significance is relatively fleeting. I didn't enjoy the film.
