Jack Quinn is een bestrijder van terrorisme. Voor hij op pensioen mag, moet hij een laatste opdracht uitvoeren: Stavros, een gevaarlijk terrorist, uitschakelen. Maar tijdens de missie raakt Quinn bewusteloos door een explosie. Als Quinn wakker wordt blijkt hij in een soort tehuis voor gefaalde terroristenbestrijders te zijn. Terwijl hij daar zit ontdekt dat Stavros achter zijn zwangere vrouw zit. Hij moet zo snel mogelijk ontsnappen uit een supergoed bewaakt eiland waar hij vast zit. Hij kan uiteindlijk ontsnappen en roept de hulp in van Yaz om Stavros te vinden en uit te schakelen. Maar de tijd dringt, zijn vrouw begint te bevallen. (Columbia TriStar Films)

It's a completely stupid affair, but Van Damme tends to act deadly serious in all of his action films. It's hard to say whether it was the writers or the director who pushed him towards the opposite, but surprisingly, it works. In combination with the completely contrasting Mickey Rourke, whose character I almost like the most in his filmography, it can't be anything but average. I've seen better action in the filmography of the Belgian and the technical intricacies won't impress that much.

I had fun with this movie, but more because of Mickey Rourke than JCVD. I don't want to say that JCVD was bad, some of his poses - he was more interesting in training than in actual fighting - are truly phenomenal, but Mickey really nailed it and he's a great scumbag here. Dennis Rodman is more of an ornament.
