Powerless

Sadiq just wants to spend more time with his daughter. After serving a prison sentence for selling coke, which removed him from his child's life, he's taking every opportunity now to make up for lost time. Moments before a trip to Disneyland, Sadiqs' ex-wife Dana and new husband (a white cop) show up to abruptly cut his time short. Sadiq insists on keeping his original plan but the couple have different ideas. Powerless explores the trials of co-parenting and how power dynamics can shift on a moment's notice when emotions become inflamed and the stakes get raised. (Pan African Film Festival)
