The Bayou Bridge Pipeline (BBP) is the Southern extension of the Dakota Access Pipeline built by Energy Transfer Partners. Water protector Cherri Foytlin leads us on a no-nonsense journey highlighting Indigenous and Black resistance to water contamination and environmental devastation in the Atchafalaya Basin, which was once a Maroon colony in the swamps. We also travel to the Black historical Freetown community of Saint James Parish known as “Cancer Alley,” Louisiana, meeting activist residents who are fighting back against industry and the BBP that’s trying to get into their already poisoned community which is plagued by environmental racism which manifests as debilitating cancer, birth defects, asthma and skin conditions. The fight for water and life continues in the Bayous of Louisiana! Come along on the journey. (Pan African Film Festival)
