Recensie van Necrotongue voor deze serie (9)

Season 1 (2019) (S01)

Engels I had mixed feelings about the first season. I can't stop thinking about how much better it could have been if they’d only had a bigger budget. The rather closed atmosphere was a bit detrimental to the whole thing. Despite that, I enjoyed all the episodes (with one exception), and I wasn’t bored in the least. Adriana Ugarte portrayed a likeably unlikeable character, but since almost all the others were criminals, she could be rooted for. If they shoot another season, I'll be happy to see it. 4*+ ()

Drijvende poppen op zee (2019) (S01E01)

Engels Opening episodes are often weaker, but this one defied expectations. From start to finish, I was thoroughly engrossed and it nearly earned a five-star rating from me. Admittedly, objectivity may be out the window here, especially with the delightful retro atmosphere that I adore so much. Plus, the casting of Adrian Ugarte in the main role is simply fantastic. The English dubbing is unfortunately a complete disaster, but this annoyance doesn't affect my rating. 4*+ ()

De eerste opdracht (2019) (S01E02)

Engels The second episode was a bit of a letdown. I had hoped for a continuation of the strong start, but the plot fell short this time. There was even a scene that felt overly saturated with testosterone, and certain interactions came across as oddly awkward. 4*- ()

Het gevecht (2019) (S01E03)

Engels The third episode showed improvement over the last one; the plot flowed more smoothly, and I wasn't bored. However, there was a nagging feeling throughout that the creators were constrained by budget limitations. With a larger budget, the show could truly shine. ()

De doodskus (2019) (S01E04)

Engels While this was another great episode, I couldn't overlook some minor flaws, like poorly executed dialogues and the increasingly apparent financial constraints. The absence of an adequate budget is proving to be a detriment to the series. ()

Wraak (2019) (S01E05)

Engels The episode delivered some intriguing moments and a surprising twist in the investigation. Despite the limitations of the budget, the storyline managed to hold its own, and I appreciated the effort to keep things engaging. It's a shame the producers didn't invest more, as the series certainly deserved it. ()

Marseille (2019) (S01E06)

Engels The pace really picked up. Shifting part of the story to France for a high-stakes meeting of underworld bosses was a clever move. And the events unfolding in Spain kept me thoroughly engaged. It's almost a five-star episode for me. 4*+ ()

De carrousel (2019) (S01E07)

Engels As we near the finale, things are heating up. The tension is rising, the scheming is getting juicier, and there's a palpable sense of danger in the air. Sure, for a mafia series, it's still a bit tame, but it's a step up from just random casualties. 4*+ ()

Helena met een H (2019) (S01E08)

Engels Despite the occasional budget constraints showing through, the creators pulled off a remarkably satisfying conclusion that had me thoroughly entertained. And that cliffhanger at the end? It sets the stage perfectly for what's to come in the next season. ()
