Al van kinds af aan werd Jun ingelijfd in een ultrageheim trainingsprogramma om uit te groeien tot het ultieme dodelijke wapen van de Koreaanse overheid. Van het soort dat twee sudoku’s oplost – we zien je al aankomen: van het moeilijkste level! – terwijl hij rustig een tiental terroristen neutraliseert. Kortom, een alfamannetje dat de belichaming is van snelle en efficiënte rechtvaardigheid. Ware het niet voor de droom van Jun: striptekenaar worden… Zijn oversten zijn niet al te happig op het idee dat hun lokale Rambo zijn tijd zou verspillen aan de fantastische wereld van Robbedoes. Dus ziet Jun geen andere uitweg dan zijn eigen dood in scène te zetten. Vijftien jaar later en onder een andere identiteit is Jun een mislukte tekenaar, niet in staat om te voorzien in zijn familie, die niets afweet van zijn verleden. Op een avond is hij iets te gul met de soju en put hij uit zijn ervaringen als geheim agent om een nieuwe online comic bij elkaar te pennen. Het goede nieuws: het is een ongelooflijk succes, eindelijk! Het slechte nieuws: nu al die geheime informatie publiek gemaakt is, popelen zijn oude bazen om hem een bezoekje te brengen. Net zoals zijn aartsvijand, van wie hij in een vorig leven jammer genoeg het gezicht verbrandde alvorens één van z’n ogen uit te steken… (Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival)

An action-packed ride from South Korea! The main character is a failed comic book writer, but one night he gets really drunk and writes a comic about his life as a professional hitman and accidentally gets it out into the world. Not only does he become famous, but gangsters and agents go after him at the same time. So the film is more light-hearted and there is no shortage of comedic elements, but they are excellent (the scene with the cell phone in the car made me laugh like nothing I've seen in a long time). The action is very good, especially the fights, some of the best South Korea has done in the last five years (the one in the toilet, the escape from the police station and the finale in the warehouse are awesome). The film has great pacing, lots of action, solid humor, fun characters, an iconic bad guy and an interesting story, what more could you ask for? If the film was more serious, we'd be talking about a potential cult classic, but it's still a blast. I roared, I laughed, and I was even moved a couple of times.
