El día de los conectados

Most Cubans have large parts of their family and friends living abroad. To stay in touch, long distance calls are too expensive, and only few people in the island have internet connection at home. But recently, Wi-Fi connections have been set up in main squares in every town in the country, where citizens gather at all hours of the day to use their cellphones and laptops to hear and see their loved ones. The popular Plaza de la Iglesia in San Antonio de los Baños is no exception, and people of all ages and backgrounds not only share the Wi-Fi and the wooden benches, but also their private conversations. And what happens on a special day like St. Valentine’s Day, or as Cubans call it, The Day of Love and Friendship? Loving Out Loud is an honest and moving documentary that captures the excitement happiness, eroticism, longing and sadness of the callers, as well as their renewed hopes, portraying the magic that a shared moment on a special day can bring.
