Baker Dill is de kapitein van een vissersboot, waarmee hij toeristen rondvaart door een rustige tropische enclave, genaamd Plymouth Island. Wanneer zijn ex-vrouw Karen plotseling opduikt, smeekt ze Dill wanhopig om haar te beschermen tegen haar gewelddadige man. Samen bedenken ze een plan om Karen’s ex-man om zeep te helpen. Al snel wordt Dill terug gezogen in een leven dat hij probeerde te vergeten. Terwijl hij worstelt tussen goed en kwaad, raakt hij verstrikt in een nieuwe realiteit en is niets meer wat het lijkt.
