Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism in its militarized 'return to traditional values'. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander's household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate the world. In this terrifying society, Offred must navigate between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids – where anyone could be a spy for Gilead – all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her. Smart Power (2018) (S02E09)

Engels I can't believe it, boring, boring, dull, dull, and suddenly the creators remembered why the first season was so successful. They stopped drowning in a game of emotions, they involved international politics in the game, and I had something to watch again. The episode had a decent atmosphere and pace, so I enjoyed it. ()

The Last Ceremony (2018) (S02E10) booh!

Engels Well, well, another brutal downfall had to come. Logic took another vacation, so unusual things could happen. Fred, for example, finds out that the child is not his... and does nothing. Offred's meeting with her daughter was definitely a step into warm intestinal excrement, and all the emotions that were there, well, more sensitive people could surely shed some tears. The story might go to hell, but most importantly, it needs to grab the heart, that will surely increase the viewership... ()

Holly (2018) (S02E11) booh!

Engels I must admit that when it comes to emotional manipulation, the eleventh episode nicely followed the previous disappointing episode. The screenwriter certainly wrote this matter at the request of the director and cameraman, who indulge in Offred's facial details, here they had space for self-expression. There was even a uniquely brilliant moment when the birth scene was interrupted by a flashback from a previous birth. Awesome! That should be appreciated. ()

Postpartum (2018) (S02E12) booh!

Engels But seriously, what was this episode actually good for? The first half of the episode is basically just about Serena Waterford making a tough decision to bury the first half in the ground, and for me to realize that I was just wasting my time by watching. I really think the creators are making fun of me. ()

The Word (2018) (S02E13) booh!

Engels Good news for me and for the creators and fans of the series - this was definitely the last episode that I watched, evaluated, and commented on; with this nonsense, I do not intend to waste any more time. New era! The servant slaps the commander! Without consequences! The plot was completely illogical throughout, but the ending, that was a masterpiece. Bravo! ()
