Recensie (2)
This review is for those wondering - why is he so enthusiastic about Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and why is he giving it an above-average rating again? Well it is because I find it endearing, amusing, entertaining, sometimes (like when Elma decided to change the corporate policy at her work) it is like everyday life, and at other times it is pleasantly heart-warming. On top of that, I have seen fight scenes in this second season that even a quality shonen would not have to be ashamed of in terms of visuals, impression and execution. I found the characters quite endearing, plus I also liked the pace and style of the narrative, and sometimes it made me think a bit more deeply about some of the social issues it covers. Okay, it is absurdly stupid at times, however, it is the kind of stupid that you can get past with a smile, and yes, I also sometimes raise my eyebrows suspiciously at some of the pairs and their interractions at times, as it does not make much sense. However, none of that ruins the overall positive experience of watching the show. Still satisfied 7.5/10. ()
While the first season of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid wasn't Kyoto Animation studio's best work, it did have a laid-back and enjoyable feel, with simple yet refreshing humor. Given its basic subject matter, I thought one season would be sufficient and didn't expect second one. However, the producers thought otherwise, and unfortunately, the second season falls short and feels like a washed-out rag. The once-diverse range of jokes has been replaced by an overabundance of idiotic "oppai comedy" which is delivered so often that it feels like a tired, overused joke. There is only one new character, who is incredibly annoying and overall the second season hardly brings anything new to the table. While I used to look forward to every episode in the first season, with the second season, I found myself not caring about upcoming episodes. I'm only giving this show three stars, and that's only because a few good episodes made me nostalgic for the quality of the first season. ()
