17-year-old Sam crashes his moped in the middle of nowhere, landing in the middle of the street between a chip stand and a seedy brothel opposite. He straight away accepts a job as a fry chef and falls in love with young Zola from across the street. Sam is shy, and his face is battered. When Zola needs his help, he does what he has to do. Named after a grill specialty and garnished with oddball humour, this film is an elegy to the power of love. (Berlinale)
