Meine Tante aus Fukushima

Kyoko Miyake's film about the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear facility disaster is arresting. The accident turned the idyllic Namie into a ghost town as inhabitants were forced to leave their homes. The director's aunt, Kuniko, lost her booming business because of the radiation. At first, she dreams of returning. As months go by, her hope gets lost, and the operation of the energy company Tepco is heading to gloom. Even when forced to let things go, Kuniko still has trust in a brighter future.
