De mooie, verwende spaniël Lady ontmoet de zwervershond Vagebond. Nadat hij haar redt van een bende straathonden die haar lastig vallen, trekken ze samen met elkaar op. Langzaam maar zeker groeien de werelden van huishond en zwervershond steeds dichter naar elkaar toe; Lady en Vagebond worden verliefd op elkaar.
