Swedish business consultant Kristian Norden leads an extremely regulated life, assisted faithfully by devoted private secretary Frans Vidmark. When the maid who normally manages the huge house must be replaced, Eva Sellgren, who just learned her kiosk is expropriated, pretends being sent by the temp agency and is hired. Franz is puzzled how much Kristian allows her to change. They clash when Kristian's teenage daughter Svenya is sent 'home' from boarding school due to a highly contagious infection and Eva decides to foster Svenya with her own son Rasmus and brat daughter Lisa.
