Op een afgelegen eiland in de Stille Zuidzee wordt een jong meisje, Wawa, verliefd op Dain, de kleinzoon van het opperhoofd. Wanneer een inter-tribale oorlog escaleert, wordt Wawa zonder dat ze het weet verloofd met iemand anders, als onderdeel van een vredesakkoord. A compelling story of one unfulfilled love, reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, filmed in the exotic setting of the volcanic island of Tanna, which captivates above all with its authenticity and breathtaking shots of the unspoiled nature there. The silhouettes of natives at the foot of the volcano spewing hot lava are not easily erased from my memory. Overall, it is a truly impressive audiovisual experience. I'll admit that the final quarter of an hour really moved me. (80%)
