Shaun staat elke dag op, gaat naar de winkel en haalt een snack, dan gaat hij terug naar huis en op naar zijn werk. Elke dag is hetzelfde, totdat op een dag er allemaal zombies rondlopen, en iedereen gebeten wordt. Shaun heeft niks in de gaten totdat er opeens een meisje in de tuin staat. Shaun en zijn maat Ed komen er na een tijdje achter dat er overal zombies zijn. Dus ze bedenken een plan om Shaun's vriendin Liz en Shaun's moeder te redden, en ze naar hun stamkroeg te brengen.
