A spirited romantic comedy, Ghost Town is the story of Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais), a cranky Manhattan dentist who develops the unwelcome ability to see dead people. Really annoying dead people. But, when a smooth-talking ghost (Greg Kinnear) traps Bertram into a romantic scheme involving his widow Gwen (Tea Leoni), they are entangled in a hilarious predicament between the now and the hereafter! Engels I'm giving the film four stars, although it isn't anything special. It’s just such a feel-good film. The filmmakers didn’t manage to avoid pathos, but I forgave them this time because the hospital scenes with the lawyer were perfect. ()

Engels A strange comedy. Far from being bad or not very entertaining, it is simply "different". It is full of really dry humor, funny (and often very strange at the same time, which is very closely related this time) dialogues and based on a classic scheme, which screenwriter/director David Koepp tried to make as interesting as possible with a ghost plot. And it worked, thanks mainly to Ricky Gervais, whose casting was a real win. Pitted against another US romance by another British comedian - Simon Pegg and How to Lose Friends & Alienate People - it's 1 : 1. Both gentlemen handled the romances in their own way (one is grumpy and cynical, the other very entertaining) and both ended up with four stars. ()
