Ali El-Rashid, een man van Arabische afkomst, leeft als taxichauffeur in Göteborg. Hij leeft een redelijk gelukkig leven en heeft met de jaren afstand gedaan van zijn land van herkomst en zijn politieke verleden. Leo (12) zit bij Ali's dochter Sara in de klas; hij is in stilte verliefd op haar. Maar zijn dagelijks leven op school wordt bepaald door Danne, een oudere jongen die hem verschrikkelijk treitert. Two inter-tangled fateful stories about the fact that headlines in the newspaper such as “Child violence in the suburbs!" or “Terrorist is a murderer!" are just the tip of the iceberg and nothing is clear-cut and black-and-white. A great screenplay with splendid acting performances and, although combining the issues of terrorism and child violence in a movie set in small town Sweden might seem like nonsense, it works and it’s darn powerful. This movie makes you to think, leaves a powerful impression, addresses interesting and relevant topics, has great actors and is well filmed. I can’t fault it in any way.
