Na een slopend gevecht tegen een duivelse schildpad wordt een team van vijf wrekers – bekend als de Tobacco Force – verplicht naar het bos gestuurd om de teamgeest aan te wakkeren. De vijf superhelden zijn genoemd naar de ingrediënten van sigaretten: Benzène (Gilles Lellouche), Methanol (Vincent Lacoste), Nicotine (Anaïs Demoustier), Mercure (Jean-Pascal Zadi), Ammoniaque (Oulaya Amamra). Hun retraite verloopt wonderwel, totdat ze lucht krijgen van een complot van Lézardin (Benoît Poelvoorde), keizer van het kwaad, om de planeet aarde te vernietigen. Samen belanden ze in een hilarische strijd voor de vrede, vol bizarre verhalen en lowbudget stunts in retro-lycra. (EYE Film)

I am very pleasantly surprised. This is only about evaluating the film as a whole, not the individual plot lines, because without them the film would be quite boring. A parody of perhaps all superhero movies and starlets with supernatural powers. You simply have to see this because you'll be laughing and watching with your mouth open for the entire 80 minutes.

Quentin Dupieux projects another geyser of his crazy ideas onto the big screen in a witty parody of superhero films, such as Ninja Turtles, Guardians of the Universe and even the Marvel and DC films, and the like – everyone can find what they want. And the whole thing is combined with the scheme of horror short stories. Sounds hard to believe? Go to the cinema, you won’t believe it until you see it! [KVIFF 2022]
