Z is een werkmier die eigenlijk geen eigen gedachten zou mogen hebben, maar dat doet hij wel. Hij wil meer en probeert contact te zoeken met de mooie prinses Bala die eveneens opgesloten zit in een keurslijf. Samen besluiten zij te ontsnappen uit de verstikkende mierenhoop. Not only great animation, but, most importantly, a refreshing, funny story, which I liked more than the overrated Shrek. It's worth watching in the original, if only for Woody Allen and Sly Stallone. I also loved the many funny references to film classics.

Made in the same year as A Bug's Life, but a few notches better. At least as far as I’m concerned. The bugs have the correct number of legs, the film has a much better story and Woody Allen has perfectly transferred his neurotic personality onto the main character. Unlike A Bug’s Life, which felt hasty and half-baked, Antz seemed more compact and professional, which is obvious given the cast.
