The Dentist

"Dentista" is a good film, even though it may not meet your expectations. This really isn't something that is overly bloody, but I think that the chosen path of smaller naturalism is beneficial in this case. The dental chair is such a familiar environment that you can easily imagine the horror, and you may find yourself closing your eyes during certain scenes because otherwise you might feel really sick. Downright disappointment. Little blood, little gore, the dentist office setting is criminally underused, lacking tension, lacking atmosphere and lacking a plot. And I refuse to add a star only for the name of the director, especially when the direction is generic most of the time. Below average. (17.01.2009)

Given the absurd subject matter and pure B-movie quality of The Dentist, it is actually rather entertaining. That is, if you know how to watch films without taking them too seriously, even if they have Mark Ruffalo in the cast. (06.03.2009)
