Biografie
Karin Junger grew up in Belgium and lives in The Netherlands. She went to the European School in Brussels, then studied French literature and Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in film science. With her first documentary, Birthplace Unknown, about her adopted Korean sisters, she won the Joris Ivens Award at the 1988 International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). In the following years she continued to make documentaries with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to human and social issues. She started to explore fiction and with her first short fiction Great! and won the Silver Bear for best short feature at the Berlinale in 2004.
