Jean-Claude Rousseau

Jean-Claude Rousseau discovered underground cinema and the works of Ozu in New York. In 1980, he completed the script for Le Concert Champêtre. In 1999, La Vallée close (1995) won an award in Belfort. The Venice Film Festival paid tribute to him in 2001, and a retrospective followed soon after in Jeonju. In 2007, De son appartement received the main prize at FIDMarseille. The same year, all films were screened at the Villa Medici. Other retrospectives followed at the Cinemateca Portuguesa in 2015 and in Japan in 2016.
