Opstandelsen (2010)

Engels A Zombie Exorcism is a minimalist zombie film, one that doesn't provide anything new and just wants to tell one story from a church, nothing more. This story was told, and it was done in a very gritty way, which I liked. There’s also no overblown runtime, in fact less than an hour of filth and brain-eating. This was slightly above my expectations, which pleased and intrigued me.

Logan Lucky (2017)

Engels I've been quite fond of Soderbergh's films lately, but Logan Lucky didn't do it for me at all. It's shot really well, and there's an attempt to capture the Southern setting, which it did, but plot-wise I just didn't enjoy the film and I didn't relate to the individual characters. It was a bit boring for me in that regard.

De Emoji film (2017)

Engels I suppose it wasn't expected that this would be a brilliantly thought out and entertaining film, but compared to the reviews I had seen before watching it, this wasn't that terrible. It has to be said that the overall idea wasn't utilized at all, though it's not a bad one. The film played it too safe and a few good scenes and jokes can't save it.

Necrophagia: Through Eyes of the Dead (2002)

Engels This is a very gory and nasty spectacle that shows that even music videos can be conceived as short horror films that will definitely affect you. The music presented herein is definitely not my cup of tea, but on the other hand, I have to admit that the music videos have at least good special effects, but the overall brutality and bizarreness of them is impressive.

Red Dwarf - Season 12 (2017) (Seizoen)

Engels You'd think it would be impossible for Red Dwarf to rise to the level of the first seasons, but the twelfth season really did and let us feel the humor we loved so much. Here you really feel like the characters haven't aged, and the film also has a well thought out plot. This is just great.

Camino na kolečkách (2017)

Engels Although I was a little worried at first that the film would be shot on a poorly focusing handheld camera, that was only the opening with the main character of the story going on a journey, even though in his condition - multiple sclerosis that has confined him to a wheelchair - not many people would have made such a trip. It does bother me a little that Christianity is underlined here, but I get that the participants are believers and that the Camino has Christian roots. But the important thing is the message. And that is a good thing: You can handle anything. You just have to want to. And have a little hope, too.

Is That a Gun in Your Pocket? (2016)

Engels The entire premise of the film is actually quite good and it almost evokes that this is going to be a very sexy and very crazy comedy. It's kind of sexy, but it's not a funny film and it's just one big moral message that really misses the mark with what it's trying to say. Nobody will take anything from this and they won't have much fun with it. That’s too bad, because there was room for humor.

The Journey Is the Destination (2016)

Engels I thought this was just going to be romantic drivel, but it actually has a pretty good story that says exactly what the title says. Sometimes the goal just isn't important, because there is only ever one goal and we are all working towards it. The journey can often fulfill us much more than its end.

Sr. Pig (2016)

Engels This is a pretty simple story about an old man who doesn't have much to fall back on anymore, so he fixates on his pig. Diego Luna as a director shows that he is capable of making interesting, intimate stories, but above all, it is Danny Glover and Maya Rudolph who let you experience this slightly absurd story.

Bachelors (2015)

Engels Basically, this is another American Pie clone, only it’s a little different. The thing is, at thirty, the main character is unable to find a relationship because he doesn't even want one. Of course, the entire film is going to be a journey to find that relationship. It's not funny, it's shallow, and there are relationships between the characters that are unbelievably transparent.
