Op één van de Bermuda-eilanden scheept een groep jongens zich in op het opleidingsschip de Albatros. Doel: de Galapagoseilanden. Onder leiding van schipper Christopher Sheldon wordt het een reis waarbij ieder op zichzelf wordt teruggeworpen, maar waarbij ze ook op elkaar leren vertrouwen. Aan het eind van de reis worden ze geconfronteerd met een van de zeldzaamste verschijnselen op zee: de witte wervelwind. Tijdens dit natuurgeweld kapseist het schip. If you get over the extremely tacky and sentimental packaging, you can enjoy a nice movie with a charismatic Jeff Bridges and beautiful shots of the ocean, palm trees, sky, etc. But when reading the script, Ridley Scott must have known that this would be more of a relaxing experience than something that would help him develop as a filmmaker.

It's not badly shot at all, the storm scene proves that this is a Scott film. But the rest? A story not worthy of a master of grand spectacles and original art stylization. That said, I can recommend it as a film to kill an evening.
