Takumi is a Japanese word for artisan, but this term is not thrown around casually. It takes true artisans tens of thousands of hours to master their craft, a staggering investment of time that speaks of a commitment to a way of life. In an age of increasing automation, Clay Jeter’s beautifully lensed film offers a contemplative look at several individuals who take a hands-on approach to their work, including a world-class chef, a traditional paper cut artist, a quality inspector at a car factory and a carpenter for one of the oldest construction companies in the world.
