De Brit Richard Billingham is gelauwerd fotograaf, kunstenaar en docent. In Ray & Liz reconstrueert hij in subliem beeld en met wrange humor drie episodes uit de jeugd die hij doorbracht in de grauwe woonblokken buiten Birmingham. To close this unadulterated wave of depression and life's confusion with the song "Good Thing" by Fine Young Cannibals was really powerful! Suddenly, one has the mistaken impression that one has seen a relaxing spectacle. And yet the opposite is true. Nevertheless, I must admit that Richard Billingham made a very fine debut, inspired by his unhappy memories of childhood and adolescence. (80%)
