De kleine heks woont samen met haar raaf Abraxas diep in het bos en is vastberaden om de állerbeste heks te worden. Ze is pas 127 en dat is nog heel jong voor een heks. Daarom mag ze niet meedoen aan de heksenbijeenkomst op de Bloksberg. Pas als ze alle toverkunsten uit het heksenboek uit haar hoofd kent, zullen de andere heksen haar niet meer als een kind behandelen. De kleine heks zal die bergheksen, bosheksen, moerasheksen, nevelheksen, onweersheksen, windheksen, knoestheksen en kruidenheksen eens wat laten zien! Ze haalt heel wat streken uit. Ze helpt de één, plaagt de ander en rolt van het ene avontuur in het andere. Van zo’n heksje moét je wel houden. Lukt het de kleine heks alle toverspreuken te onthouden en iedereen in het bos te overtuigen dat ze de állerbeste is? (Dutch FilmWorks)

Thanks to The Little Witch, we can revisit Otfried Preußler's most beloved fairy tale books. Karoline Herfurth is amazingly cute, cheerful, playful, and brave. I highly recommend it, especially where the unnecessarily restrictive impression has taken hold, namely the idea that they don't know how to tell fairy tales in German-speaking countries.

An enjoyable German fairy-tale that will not amaze you, nor will it offend you. The plot passes by effortlessly and you don’t get bored during the hundred minutes. The cast was generally well chosen – the cute Karoline Herfurth vs. the slick Suzanne von Borsody – and I must admit that technically the film was also decent. A likeable respite, ranging between three and four stars, which fortunately doesn't rely on cheap and infantile humour, thus distancing itself from most genre films of recent years.
