Wat een blij weerzien met zijn vrouw en zwangere dochter moest worden, draait uit op een gruwelijke nachtmerrie voor Roman Melnyk. Op de luchthaven krijgt hij te horen dat er een ongeluk heeft plaatsgevonden en dat zijn vrouw en dochter het niet hebben overleefd. Roman is gebroken en trekt zich terug op zoek naar antwoorden over het bewuste ongeluk. Jake, de luchtverkeersleider die verantwoordelijk is voor het ongeluk, duikt na een korte celstraf onder om te ontsnappen aan de media-aandacht en de beschuldigingen van de nabestaanden. Maar Roman laat het er niet bij zitten en wil uitleg, spijt, verontschuldigingen van de “moordenaar” van zijn gezin. (Source 1 Media)

A Darren Aronofsky production? For God’s sake, why? Because it’s a drama in which everyone suffers? But it’s a rather dull drama. And Arnold’s presence in it is unquestionably the WTF moment of 2017. It's like he’s taking Sean Penn’s place in 21 Grams. Show me a single person who is at least a bit interested in movies (either as a viewer or as a filmmaker) who doesn’t find this unreal. Otherwise, the depiction of the responsibilities of the workers in the airport control center is original and powerful, and Scoot McNairy turns in a respectable performance, which was necessary. In terms of the screenwriting, the story could have turned out differently and thus more interestingly. As it stands, the film is forgotten before the closing credits come to an end.

Arnold Schwarzenegger demonstrates that he can act, and let's face it, for me, that's pretty much enough in the case of this movie. The story is quite well-dramatized, and Arnold demonstrates how he can handle this aspect quite easily. It's a very quiet film, but the emotions are there, even though they're somewhat suppressed except for a few moments, and it's up to the viewer to infer them.

This attempt at psychological drama didn't quite work. The opening seemed quite promising, but then the film's narrative started to drag incredibly, despite a certain brevity. The final denouement was quite unexpected, but at the same time, it seemed quite unbelievable, which I consider a mistake in the case of a film based on real events. Moreover, the filmmakers failed to awaken the right emotions in me. (45%)
