Paradies! Paradies!

In 1991, when Kurdwin Ayub was just a baby, his family was forced to flee from their country, Iraq, and to finally build a new life in Austria. Years later, his father, now unwell, decides to visit his relatives in Kurdistan, with the intention of buying a house where he can spend his retirement years in what he considers paradise. On this occasion, Ayub accompanies him, camera in hand, recording the days with his numerous family, to which he belongs but which is also foreign to him, visits to apartments, conversations with estate agents, and even their encounter with the Peshmerga. His father's unshakeable enthusiasm and the blind idealisation of the lost homeland contrast with Ayub's view and with the surrounding reality of a country divided between conflict and a hurried advance along the road to progress.
