Wanneer Charlie en zijn beste vriend Phil hun baan verliezen bij een grootschalige bedrijfsreorganisatie, zit er voor beide mannen niets anders op dan hun zoontjes weg te halen uit de prestigieuze Chapman Academy. Zonder concrete vooruitzichten op de arbeidsmarkt besluiten de twee vaders de opvoeding van hun peuters voor hun eigen rekening te nemen. An outrageously embarrassing affair, which I would definitely not let a kid watch because of the huge dose of stupid, unfunny toilet humour. Murphy is only average, but that's the only plus the film offers, despite Huston's involvement.

We still have Daddy day Care at home on the original VHS, and I remember that even back then this film made a rather mediocre impression on me. The premise isn't downright bad, but the execution is a bit dull, and not even the solid performances from Eddie Murphy, Steve Zahn and Anjelica Huston can save it. Jeff Garlin struck me then, as he does now, as a very bad actor-comedian. The kids are mostly annoying, and the lesson about the importance of family is a nice one, but in this case quite cheaply served. Better two stars!
