De dertigjarige Alice is een vrouwelijke matroos. Ze laat Felix, haar man, achter op het vasteland en vertrekt als monteur op een oud vrachtschip, de Fidelio. Aan boord verneemt ze dat ze een man vervangt die net is overleden en ontdekt ze verder dat Gaël, haar eerste grote liefde, het bevel heeft over het schip. In haar hut vindt Alice een dagboek dat toebehoorde aan haar voorganger. Ze leest tussen zijn aantekeningen over mechanische problemen over zijn seksuele veroveringen en amoureuze melancholie. A lone woman on a stormy sea holding onto the mast of a catamaran fishing boat. I’m not sure about you, but I was personally surprised that there wasn’t some sort of a narrator explaining that Alice is a nymphomaniac and she ventures onto the open sea to let water dogs nail her. The things that followed weren’t surprising at all and to be honest, I was mostly bored during the whole movie. Nothing that important was going on, there was nothing unexpected and the only good thing about it were the locations outside the fishing boat on which the movie took place most of the running time.
