Na mlečnom putu

An absolutely crazy love story set against the backdrop of a war conflict somewhere in the Balkans. That's just Emir Kusturica for you, and that's why I love him, including his beautiful scenery and amazing music. While there is some visual craziness here that might warrant a lower rating, like when the central couple flies down a waterfall, overall, I had a great time, and I think that's what really matters. Moreover, some of the situations depicted made me think more deeply. To be specific, what did the snake, which appears mostly in the tense moments of the film, actually symbolize? I’d almost say “Balkan Wes Anderson”. But where Anderson is playful and brilliant, Emir Kusturica is vulgarly stupid and cheap. A nice ending, but that’s it. (02.06.2017)
