Porojen parissa

In the late winter of 1947 Erik Blomberg (1913-1996) and Eino Mäkinen (1908-1987) filmed a separation of reindeer at Hammastunturi in Lapland. It usually takes place before Christmas during the period of darkness, but for some reason this separation of reindeer had been delayed. In fair weather and clean light a magnificent documentary was created, the first and still insuperable "reindeerfilm".  With the Reindeer was filmed in Inari and sodankylä, and it is also an excellent ethnographical short film.
