A Severa

A period poster read "the most Portuguese of all Portuguese films". The first sound film about Portuguese popular customs and the society in 1848, when fado was linked solely with Lisboan pubs and brothels. It tells the story of bohemian Count de Marialva who falls in love with the mythical fado singer - Gypsy prostitute Severa, presenting fado in aristocratic palaces. (Summer Film School)
