Wanneer John terugkeert naar zijn vader na het uitzitten van een gevangenisstraf kijkt hij er naar uit om een nieuwe start te maken. In de lokale omgeving is zijn misdaad echter nog niet vergeten noch vergeven. Johns aanwezigheid brengt het slechtste in iedereen naar boven en er ontstaat al snel een dreigende sfeer. John krijgt het gevoel verlaten te zijn door zijn vroegere vrienden en de mensen die hij liefheeft. Hij verliest zijn hoop en dezelfde agressie waardoor hij in de gevangenis is beland begint zich weer op te bouwen. Niet in staat om zijn verleden achter zich te laten besluit hij de confrontatie aan te gaan. (Imagine)

And the Scandinavians did it again! Once again I came across a premise that induces depression in the viewer and on top of that presents a protagonist who, no matter how hard I tried pushing him with my thoughts, doesn’t really feel like expressing any emotions or feelings, which makes the movie even more depressing and unbearable. On the other hand, that’s the very reason why I like Scandinavian movies so much. They keep you in suspense until the closing credits. The only problem is that in this movie, nothing happened that would give us, the viewers, at least a glimpse of the intentions of the guy and of why he did what he did. And in the same way we still don’t know what he was thinking while doing it and that’s despite the fact that the actor put in an excellent acting performance. So, all that’s left now is sit here, look at the gray sky, try to force it to start snowing and ponder this psychological analysis that cannot be understood. It can only be accepted.
