Eind jaren tachtig, tijdens een schoolfuif op Valentijnsdag wordt de onpopulaire nerd Jeremy Melton uitgelachen door alle vijf de meisjes die hij ten dans vraagt, behalve door Dorothy. Even later staan ze in een hoekje te kussen. Enkele pestkoppen betrappen hen en lachen ze uit, waarop Dorothy zegt dat Jeremy haar heeft lastig gevallen. De jongeman wordt in elkaar geslagen. Zo'n twaalf jaar later zijn de vijf meisjes twintigers en krijgen ze plots ziekelijke valentijnskaartjes ondertekend met J.M. Zou Jeremy Melton terug zijn? The American film Valentine will only win you over if you haven't seen any other slasher films. It is a product of its time, when slashers were the fashion and the creators wanted to emulate the success of Scream. In this case, that didn't work at all. The only positive is the film’s attempt to have the characters die in a pretty interesting way, though it doesn't change the fact that it's kind of weird. The drill scene doesn't make much sense.
