Engels For a film to succeed, you need a quality screenplay, good actors, and a decent budget. The latter was lacking here because in the early 70s, Czech Television definitely couldn't afford to splurge, and cardboard studio backdrops appeared not only in fairy tales but even in productions for adults. However, this handicap was more than compensated for by a whole host of top-notch actors who performed as if from a playbook. Sometimes it's almost unbelievable to compare the acting of the time, for example, Jana Šulcová's, with what is showcased in today's series. The screenplay was actually arranged by Henrik Ibsen himself, which is a mark of quality. And thirdly - slimy scoundrels are more interesting than one-dimensional heroes, especially when such a hypocrite and rogue is played by an acting chameleon like Luděk Munzar. Overall impression: 90%. ()
