A man searching for his kidnapped wife, a couple of white-supremacist drug dealers, and a sad-sack Elvis impersonator, plus more desperate characters come to life in the action-packed and hilarious story written by Adam Minarovich and from the director Wayne Kramer. (Lionsgate Home Entertainment)

The pleasure is a bit “guilty”, but a pleasure nonetheless. Three trashy stories from the American backwaters that would love to be like Pulp Fiction, but lack Tarantino’s precision. BTW, Elijah Wood is doing his best to change the tag of “cute hobbit” for “perverted psychopath”, and quite successfully. ()
The three stories linked via uninspiring junk from a pawn shop are all formidable. Personally, I like the second one about the lost wife. I liked how it turned out. And Matt Dillon just has the best wino voice ever. The junkie mayhem also has something to it and Paul Walker dominates it. Elvis is just a God-squad advertising stunt. Has some style, but maybe even pointless without the final link-up. ()
Pawn shop Chronicles very sarcastically portrays the social, religious and political view of America today in three short stories. It's got a thoughtful script, gritty black humor, weird characters (in a good way), and a perfect cast. A disturbingly entertaining affair. Story #2 is closest to my heart. What would Tarantino say? 80%. ()
