Engels David Lynch's traditional approach of making the incomprehensible incomprehensible. The cinematography was a big upside, but also a downside. The former with the shots from the hotel, the later the strangely chopped and smudged image. Marion Cotillard was great for the part, as was the choice of that period music, but it's all trumped by the lack of any deeper meaning, which I (perhaps to my misfortune) didn't find here. ()

Engels For once, another Lynch short film that, if nothing else, at least has a bit of a plot. Marion Cotillard returns to the hotel room, where a handbag suddenly appears. Actually, the whole thing is essentially a big advertisement for the Dior brand. Where did that purse come from? What does it mean? Don't expect a clear answer. This is just Lynch indulging himself so much that he seems to have forgotten that others want to see something too. Well, I wonder if we'll ever get something from him that's a bit watchable without needing LSD. ()
