Agent Charlie leeft een voorbeeldig leven. Als State Trooper probeert hij de vrede binnen de gemeenschap te bewaren. Wat er ook rondom hem gebeurt, hij verheft nooit zijn stem. Kortom, hij is eigenlijk veel te goed voor deze wereld. Ook wanneer zijn vrouw hem op een dag brutaal verlaat, geeft Charlie geen krimp. Maar op een dag gebeurt er iets vreemds met hem. Plots lijdt hij aan een gespleten persoonlijkheid. Zijn goede kant, Charlie, blijft bestaan. Maar soms is hij Hank, een brutale durf-al. Zijn oversten geven hem de opdracht even vakantie te nemen en enkel nog de voortvluchtige Irene naar een ander politiekantoor te brengen. En dan loopt het volledig mis. (20th Century Fox)

After some serious and perfectly played roles, Jim Carrey once again went off to shoot one more crazy comedy. But, woefully, Carrey and the Friesian are the only positive things in the whole movie. Everything else from the direction to the screenplay to the unbearable length is terrible. There are a few (but only a few) hilarious scenes but they are not enough to save the movie.

I don't know why I always changed the channel when this movie was on TV, now I finally watched the whole thing and hats off to Jim Carrey for delivering another of his typical acting performances and its a shame because he’s a brilliant comedian and now he hardly does any filming at all. The idea of a schizophrenic with narcissistic symptoms was brilliant. 85%.

Carrey at his "face-making" best, i.e. there really are few actors with such brutally sophisticated facial expressions (Ryan Gosling is the opposite extreme). I'd leave the "seriousness" of the story completely aside and make do with the claim that this is a breezy comedy with some memorable moments and sometimes pretty killer lines. The trio of brothers was unbeatable in this regard.
