Deze film speelt zich af in Amerika rond 1940. De getrouwde Harry is stapelverliefd op de veel jongere Kay. Hij weet alleen niet hoe hij zijn vrouw Pat moet vertellen dat hij overspel heeft gepleegd en uiteindelijk besluit hij haar te vermoorden. This is an exemplarily bad retro film that is the answer to the current sporadic genre forays into the late 1940s - a time, the story tries to tell us, in which murder was apparently more bearable than divorce. This is a very odd thesis in and of itself, don’t you think? Add to that the bad acting performances, led by Rachel McAdams, who did not act authentically even in the much more successful The Notebook, and the unbelievable and very cheap set design, we are left with a ridiculous attempt at atmosphere and downright uninteresting music.
