Wayne is Joe January, a hard-drinking, hard-living guide. When Paul Bonnard (Rossano Brazzi) hires him to find his father and a legendary lost treasure, the two set out into the isolated wasteland of the North African desert. John Wayne and Sophia Loren are a great combination, and it is beautifully visible in their characters how they are searching for each other and eventually find each other. Sometimes playful, then strong towards the end, perhaps even overly theatrically emotional. But I didn't mind that. John Wayne again shows his classic character, but I devour it again.
