Nadat Karen Davis (Sarah Michelle Gellar) in The Grudge zelf slachtoffer wordt van de befaamde vloek, belandt ze in een ziekenhuis in Tokyo. Karen’s zus Aubrey (Amber Tamblyn) reist meteen af naar Japan om haar bij te staan. Al snel komt ze tot de ontdekking dat Karen verdacht wordt van het aansteken van de brand in het door ‘The Grudge’ vervloekte huis, waarbij haar vriend omkwam. Dan maakt Aubrey kennis met verslaggever en fotograaf Eason (Edison Chen). Hij vertelt haar dat Karen in de ban is van een onzichtbare en dodelijke vloek. Aubrey is vastbesloten de zaak tot op de bodem uit te zoeken. (Independent Films)

A noticeable drop in quality from the first part, but the second Grudge is still an above-par ghost story. Not all the jump-scares are effective this time, the ghosts look terrifying only sometimes, and the feeling of dread from the first part doesn’t appear until the second half. We follow again three storylines that connect at the end, and one of those connections is actually surprising. My rating is somewhere between 50 and 60%
