Bij het overlijden van hun vader erven Ernie en Lars Smuntz een keramisch ei, een bijna lege kist Cubaanse sigaren, wat verbleekte zilveren lepels, een oude koordenfabriek en een bouwvallig huis dat er plompverloren bij ligt op een schier onmetelijke vlakte. Enkele dagen later verliest Ernie alles wat hem nog restte, zijn Franse restaurant en Lars moet lijdzaam en platzak toezien hoe zijn fabriek wordt overgenomen door muitende arbeiders. A pleasant picture that did a good job of stylization to reflect the magic of good old Tom and Jerry cartoons. Some scenes are just wonderful slapstick romps. Considering this movie is aimed at a younger audience, unfortunately the humor is above their comprehension. But even so, it is easy to survive watching.

A comedy that I will probably never get tired of, and will always prove to me that I am childish. The perfect atmosphere of slapstick films (basically, a live-action Tom and Jerry), Verbinski's imaginative direction, Silvestri's superb music... I’ve no complaints.

I loved this back when I was a kid. It is wacky, funny, insane, far-fetched – but why not? You shall have fun, you shall laugh... so take it easy. ;)
